Choose the Right Yamada Diaphragm – Maximize Pump Performance with Flowtec

11 March 2026

The diaphragm is the driving force behind every Yamada pump. Selecting the wrong material can lead to tearing, deformation, reduced efficiency, and costly, unnecessary downtime. With the right diaphragm, however, your pump operates longer, safer and with minimal maintenance.

As an official Yamada distributor, Flowtec helps you choose the optimal diaphragm for your specific pump model and application. Yamada offers a broad range of materials, each engineered to perform under different chemical, temperature, and process conditions.

Yamada Diaphragm Materials Overview

  • NEOPRENE™ (CR): For non-corrosive abrasive fluids
  • BUNA-N (NBR): Suitable for petroleum-based products
  • NORDEL® (EPDM): Resistant to caustics, certain acids and low temperatures (FDA options available)
  • VITON® (FKM): For aggressive chemicals and high-temperature environments
  • HYTREL® (TPEE): Versatile, long flex-life option (FDA-compliant when specified)
  • SANTOPRENE® (TPO): Ideal for acids and caustics with very high flex-life
  • TEFLON® (PTFE): For highly aggressive chemical applications
  • TU (PTFE/EPDM): Perfect for inks and paints, prevents residue and color contamination
